Granum Hutterite Colony (Granum, Alberta, Canada)

The Granum (Alberta) Hutterite Bruderhof (Dariusleut) near Granum, 18 miles (30 km) northwest of Macleod, was founded in 1930. Their preacher Michael Tschetter, who was chosen to the ministry in the Spink Bruderhof in 1910, led the Spink brotherhood into Canada in 1918 to found the Stand-Off Colony near Macleod, Alberta. From here he went with several families to found the Granum Bruderhof. Michael Tschetter died in 1940. Jakob Hofer was chosen preacher here in 1934 and confirmed in 1938. In 1947 the Bruderhof had 50 baptized members in a total of 125 souls.
