Hackfurt, Lukas (16th century)Lukas Hackfurt (Lux Bathodius, Latin), an upper-class citizen of Strasbourg, a civil custodian of alms, was a respected member of the Anabaptist group in the Reformation period. His name recurs frequently in the records of council proceedings concerning the earliest Anabaptist movement in Strasbourg. He was apparently a strong supporter of the group and of pronounced influence on its leadership until he recanted in 1531. BibliographyAdam, Johann. Evangelische Kirchengeschichte Stadt Strassburg.
