Kohnert familyKohnert is a Mennonite family formerly found both in East and West Prussia. This family is of Dutch descent, the name Kohnert being the same as the Dutch Christian name Koenraad (Conrad). Salomon Kohnert was a preacher in the Waterlander congregation of Lithuania (Memel-Niederung) in 1743-1800. Andreas Kohnert served as preacher at Schweinsgrube (congregation Stuhmsche Niederung) 1764-d. 1788; in the same congregation, then called Tragheimerweide, David Kohnert, of Klein Schardau, was a preacher in 1859- ca. 1890.
