Koopmans (Coopmans) familyKoopmans (formerly often Coopmans) were a Dutch Mennonite family. Besides Klaas Koopmans and his son Rinse Klaasz Koopmans, there have been at least three other preachers of this family. Gerbrand Koopmans, b. 1779 at Leeuwarden, d. 1836 at Koudum, studied at the Amsterdam Mennonite Seminary 1801-1805 and served the congregations of Zaandam “Oude Huys” 1805-1814, Oostzaandam 1814-1821, and Bolsward 1821-1831 (Naamlijst 1815, 82-84; 1829, 29, 44). Dirk Koopmans, b. 1792 at Leeuwarden, d. 1849 at Amsterdam, served the congregation of Kampen 1818-1822. In that year he resigned to move to Amsterdam, where he founded an insurance business (Naamlijst 1829, 39). Lieuwe Koopmans was the pastor of the De Rijp congregation after 1954.
