Pieter Langedult was born in 1640 at Haarlem, Holland, and he died there 1677. He was a physician and preacher of the Flemish Mennonite congregation of Haarlem. Langedult, who was a champion of Collegiant principles, wrote the following books: De Apostolice Outheyt van de Vryheyt van Spreken in de Vergaderingen der Christenen, tegens Ds A. van Dalens Alleen-spreken  verdedigt  (Haarlem,  1672) (Anton van Dale, his co-preacher at the Haarlem Flemish congregation, had published a book against the Collegiant practice of "free speaking" in the congregation), and De nietigheyd der Chiliastery (Haarlem, 1676), in which Langedult attacked the chiliastic ideas of the Collegiant leader Daniel de Breen. He further published a Dutch translation of J. L. Wolzogen, De werelose Christen (Haarlem, 1676), a tragedy entitled Christus lydende envcrheerlykt, het allerheylsaamste Treurspel (3 vols., Haarlem, 1684; 3d ed. Amsterdam, 1714), Christelyke Sedekonst ofte beoefeninge der Godsaligheyd (Leiden, 1684), and Aanteekeningen ofte Verklaaringen over de Klaagliederen van Jeremias (Amsterdam, 1687). The last three books were published by his friend after his early death. Laurens Klinkhammer  edited his Sedekonst.
