Canastota New Order Amish Settlement (Canastota, New York, USA)
The Canastota New Order Amish settlement in Canastota, New York, USA was established in 2006. Canastota is a village located inside the Town of Lenox in Madison County, New York.
The settlement began as New Order Amish families, many from Holmes County, Ohio, moved to the area. They were attracted by the small dairy farms in an area with an aging population. They brought a number of farms back into production. In 2014 all of the settlement's families were farmers.
Nathan D. Weaver, who arrived in 2006, was the first minister. John J. Troyer came in 2011 and served as the first bishop.
In 2014 the settlement was part of the New Order Amish. Canastota had one district with a total of 15 family units.
After homeschooling for several years, the families built the Siloam Springs school in 2009.
