Sipkema family

Sipkema, a Dutch Mennonite family, formerly living near Joure, Friesland, where some of them were deacons until recent times. Ane Sipkema (born 1845 at Broek, died 1926 at Amsterdam), at first engaged in farming, became a student at the Amsterdam Mennonite Seminary in 1868-74 and was a pastor 1888-1912, serving at Mensingeweer 1874-81, Borne 1881-88, and Edam 1888-1912. Johannes Wibrandus Sipkema (born 1914) studied at the university and the seminary at Amsterdam, thereupon serving the congregations of Terhorne 1938-42, Drachten 1942-47, Eindhoven and Breda 1947-56, and Aalsmeer 1956- .
