The Aberdeen Evangelical Mennonite Church has been located in the north end of Winnipeg, Manitoba since 1957. Pastor Ardith Frey served in 2000 as a salaried congregational leader. (Pastors have been salaried since 1975.) The congregation has been affiliated with the Evangelical Mennonite Conference since 1957. The language of worship is English.

Reimer is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through urbanization from rural Manitoba. The congregation then met in shared facilities with the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Aberdeen Mennonite was the first congregation in the Evangelical Mennonite Conference to have a woman pastor, as Ardith Frey served as the pastor from late 1992 to June 2003. The pastor in 2009 was Adam Robinson.
