Aecht Melis, an Anabaptist martyr, captured at Krommeniedijk in the Dutch province of North Holland, was put to death after horrible torture, presumably in 1534 (1542, the date given in the Martyrs Mir<em>ror</em>, is wrong in any case), along with several other brethren and sisters, including her husband, Willem.
