Franciscus Agricola (died 4 December 1620), a priest at Sittard in the Dutch province of Limburg and a Catholic writer, attacked the Mennonites in his Ketzer-Brunn oder Grundwurtzel aller Secten (Cologne, 1583), and Confutatio Anabaptistorum Germanice. Karl Rembert (Wiedertäufer, 564) quotes an unintentionally favorable comment on the Anabaptists (quoted in translation by John Horsch, Mennonites in Europe, Scottdale, 1942, 294) which he attributes to a book by Agricola, Erster evangelischer Prozess wider allerlei grausame Irrtümer der Wiedertäufer (Cologne, 1582; 2nd ed. 1591).
