Alt Münsterberg was founded in the pre-Teutonic Order period and was called Ośno. It was mentioned in 1331 as Ossyn. The settlement was granted the Chełmno rights (Kulm Law, a legal constitution for a municipal form of government) by the Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights, Werner von Orseln. Until 1772 Alt Münsterberg was part of the Kingdom of [[Poland|Poland]]. The First Partition of Poland resulted in the creation of a new province in 1773, called [[West Prussia|West Prussia]]. The following Mennonite surnames are mentioned in the Prussian census of 1776: Bergen, Dick, Fiesen, Kroecker, Neufeldt, Regehr, Reimer, Warckentin, Wieb, and Wiebe. In 1820, the village had 350 residents, including 50 Mennonites.
Mennonites who were residents of Kunzendorf were members of the Heubuden Mennonite Church.
