Amazon Valley Indian Mission (AVIM), was established in 1955 at Araguacema, Goias, [[Brazil|Brazil]], under an independent Mennonite ([[Mennonite Church (MC)|Mennonite Church]]) board with the same name, whose founder and field director was Howard Hammer (d. 1957).
