Buller (Büller) family

Buller (Büller) is a Mennonite family name in the Old Flemish congregations in West Prussia, first mentioned at Schönsee (Sosnovka) in 1695. All members of this family emigrated to Russia (Molotschna settlement) in the first third of the 19th century, and subsequently to Kansas and Nebraska, from where they have spread into other states. Jacob Buller, elder of the Alexanderwohl congregation in South Russia and later at Goessel, Kansas, was one of the 12 delegates sent to America in 1873 to prepare for the migration. J. W. Buller was the founder of the Buller Manufacturing Co., Hillsboro, Kansas. Peter P. Buller (b. 1874) served for many years as minister of the Alexanderwohl Church and later of the Goessel Mennonite Church in Kansas. Harold Buller, Mountain Lake, Minnesota, served as director of the Mennonite Central Committee relief program in Europe, 1949-1951, and later was pastor of the Bethel College Mennonite Church.
