Von Bylandt was a family of earls having its seat in [[Rheydt (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)|Rheydt]] in Rhenish Prussia, which for more than 100 years offered toleration and protection from the repressions of the government to [[Anabaptism|Anabaptists]] living on their estates. Von Bylandt was a family of earls having its seat in Rheydt in Rhenish Prussia, which for more than 100 years offered toleration and protection from the repressions of the government to Anabaptists living on their estates. At first Otto von Bylandt, who played an influential role of power in the court of Duke William in Düsseldorf, protected them against all persecution by the imperial government.
