The Calgary Chinese Mennonite congregation began services in 1981. The first building was occupied in 1987. Ezekiel Wong is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through outreach by Foothills Mennonite Church and the Conference of Mennonites in Alberta. Until 1986 the group held services alternately with the Vietnamese Mennonite group at Foothills Mennonite Church.
Minister Daniel Kong served in 2000 as a congregational leader. In 1995 there were 85 members; in 2000 70; in 2009 60. In 2009 Hugo and Doreen Neufeld provided interim pastoral leadership until Joseph Loui became pastor in 2010.
In 2016 the congregation withdrew from Mennonite Church Alberta. The Being a Faithful Church (BFC) resolution regarding same-sex relationships that was passed by Mennonite Church Canada at their assembly in July 2016 played a part in their withdrawal.
