Exeter Civilian Public Service Unit No. 117 was opened at Exeter School, Lafayette, Rhode Island, 9 November 1943, and closed in August 1949. The 20 men of the unit, under the direction of the Mennonite Central Committee, performed various services in this institution, which cared for mentally defective boys.
