The Cornerstone Bible congregation at Steinbach, MB began services and formally organized in 1897, when four families met as a congregation; three of the families had been members of the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren church in Minnesota, while the members of the fourth family were converts from a series of meetings in 1897 led by H.E. Fast of Bingham Lake, Minnesota. Abram F. Friesen is considered the founding leader of the group. After serious difficulties the congregation reorganized and made a fresh start in 1908. G. S. Rempel was leader of the congregation for many years prior to 1957.

The congregation's first building was occupied in 1901, with subsequent building programs in 1912 and 1954.

In 1965 there were 334 members; in 1975, 325; in 1985, 295. The congregation has been affiliated with the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren (1897-1987) and Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches (1987-). In 1987 the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Conference changed its name to Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches. The language of worship is English; the transition from German occurred in the 1940s.

Prior to the denomination's name change, Cornerstone Bible Church was known as the Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church.

The congregation's address is Box 69, Steinbach, MB, R0A 2A0. (204) 326-3561. The church is located at 290 First St. Pastor Bob Vogt served in 2001 as a congregational leader.
