Hendrick Wilhelm van Delden was a leading textile manufacturer in Germany, head of the largest cotton mill on the Continent (at Gronau, Westphalia), and in 1938 president of the International Cotton Congress at Cairo, Egypt. He was born in Gronau, 20 April 1872, and died there 24 January 1950, oldest of eight children of Gerrit and Engelbertha van Delden, and older brother of Mathieu van Delden. For decades he was a member of the Gronau Mennonite church board and a member of the directors of the Vereinigung der Deutschen Mennonitengemeinden and served as treasurer of the Mennonitischer Geschichtsverein, 1933-1947.
