Jan Jansz Deutel was a bookseller and rhetorician in Hoorn, Holland, where he died ca. 1652. De Hoop Scheffer counts him among the Mennonites and has placed his writings under Mennonite authors in the catalog of the [[Amsterdam Mennonite Library (Bibliotheek en Archief van de Vereenigde Doopsgezinde Gemeente te Amsterdam)|Amsterdam Mennonite library]], but it has been impossible to determine this with certainty.
