Konrad Eichacher (or Eicher), one of the first [[Anabaptism|Anabaptists]] to die as a martyr in [[Bern (Switzerland)|Bern]], Switzerland, was a native of Steffisberg. He was seized in 1529 because of his faith; but after his trial, begun on 18 October, he was released, for he said that he had erred.
