Hermannus Elconius (Herman Eelkes), born at Harlingen, Dutch province of [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]], died there after 1607, was the last Roman Catholic priest at Harlingen before the Reformation; about 1580 he left the [[Roman Catholic Church|Catholic Church]] and in 1581 became a Reformed minister at [[Utrecht (Utrecht, Netherlands)|Utrecht]], and from 1589 at Harlingen. Here he came into conflict with the Reformed Synod; in 1602 he left the Reformed church and joined the Mennonites at Harlingen. In 1605 he is reported to have been their preacher.
