Emeritaatsfonds

The Emeritaatsfonds was a Dutch fund for pensions of retired ministers. Since the ministers of Dutch Mennonite congregations gave full time to their ministry, provisions were made to grant them a reasonable yearly pension when they retired at the age of 65. These funds served at the same time as Invaliditeitfondsen, i.e., they provided for those who had to leave the ministry before they had reached the age of 65, because of bad health. In 1953 there were four of these superannuation funds in the Netherlands: Friesch Emeritaatsfonds, founded in 1845, Zaansch Emeritaatsfonds since 1848 (see Algemeen Emeritaatsfonds), Groningsch Emeritaatsfonds since 1917, and Pensioenfonds der A.D.S.  since 1940.
