Escondido [[Mennonite Brethren Church|Mennonite Brethren Church]], now extinct, known also as Bethania Mennonite Brethren Church, was located one mile from Escondido, San Diego County, [[California (USA)|California]], and was a member of the [[Pacific District Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (United States Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches)|Pacific District Mennonite Brethren Conference]]. Founded by Elder [[Schellenberg, Abraham (1845-1920)|Abraham Schellenberg]] of [[Buhler (Kansas, USA)|Buhler, Kansas]], who moved there in 1907, it had a membership in 1910 of approximately 100. Families began to move away after 1917 when heavy frost for two years in succession destroyed the citrus fruit crops. Most of the members left for places farther north, Shafter, Wasco, and Reedley. The church building was sold in 1921 for $535.00; a small group of members remaining there received financial and spiritual support from the conference until about 1929.

Escondido Mennonite Brethren Church, now extinct, known also as Bethania Mennonite Brethren Church, was located one mile from Escondido, San Diego County, California, and was a member of the Pacific District Mennonite Brethren Conference. Founded in 1908 by Elder Abraham Schellenberg of Buhler, Kansas, who moved there in 1907, it had a membership in 1912 of approximately 70. Families began to move away after 1917 when heavy frost for two years in succession destroyed the citrus fruit crops. Most of the members left for places farther north, Shafter, Wasco, and Reedley. The church building was sold in 1921 for $535.00; a small group of members remaining there received financial and spiritual support from the conference until about 1929.
