The Europäisches Mennonitisches Friedenskomitee (EMFK; European Mennonite Peace Committee) was reconstituted in 1981 as a result of discussing the need for a European representative to the International Mennonite Peace Committee and the need to he affiliated with the Mennonite World Conference, and the Mennonite Central Committee. In 1984 the committee employed a secretary and appointed a treasurer and a chairperson. It is largely responsible for publishing the periodical titled Natowatch.

Discipleship is following Jesus to the cross, is daring steps toward peace and justice in a world of conflict. "Dialogue" has emerged as a major theme for the work of EMFK, in its associations with relief work, the International Mennonite Organization, the Europäisches Mennonitisches Evangelisationskomitee, mediation services under MCC-Europe, the worldwide Mennonite Sunday for Peace, and European network of the organization, Church and Peace.
