Isaak P. Fast, the son of the well-known teacher Peter Fast of Tashchenak-Friedensfeld, [[Ukraine|South Russia]], was born on 4 February 1856, and died November 1908. Among the pioneers of the [[Memrik Mennonite Settlement (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine)|Memrik settlement]] in the district of [[Bachmut (Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine)|Bachmut]], which was purchased by the [[Molotschna Mennonite Settlement (Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Molotschna settlement]] for its landless families in 1885, there were 28 members of the [[Mennonite Brethren Church|Mennonite Brethren Church]] of Rückenau. One of these was Isaak P. Fast, who settled here with his wife and family. In the fall of 1885 Fast was ordained to the ministry to lead the young church (affiliated with Rückenau). On 11 September 1900 the church became independent and on this occasion Fast was ordained as an elder.
