Franchoys de Corte, an Anabaptist martyr, a cloth-maker, born in Bruges, Belgium, was arrested at Antwerp, and because he "persisted in his rebaptism" was sentenced to death and executed by secret drowning at the Steen castle at Antwerp on 24 July 1561.
