Franchoys de Corte, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, a cloth-maker, born in [[Bruges (West-Vlaanderen, Belgium)|Bruges]], [[Belgium|Belgium]], was arrested at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]], and because he "persisted in his rebaptism" was   sentenced to death and executed by secret drowning at the Steen castle at Antwerp on 24 July 1561.
