Johann Friedrich Franz, Reformed clergyman at Lichtenberg in the canton of [[St. Gall (Switzerland)|St. Gall]], [[Switzerland|Switzerland]], in 1824 at Mogelsberg in the same canton, wrote the book, <em>Die schwärmerischen Greuelszenen der St. Galler Wiedertäufer zu Anfang der Reformation . . . aus den Original-Handschriften Joh. Kesslers </em>(Ebnat, 1824). Franz was induced by libertinistic movements to produce this book, which follows [[Kessler, Johannes (1502-1574)|Kessler]] closely, and which has been superseded by recent research.
