Franz was induced by libertinistic movements to produce this book, which follows Kessler closely, and which has been superseded by recent research. The material he presents apart from Kessler is inferior; as his sources he mentions Vadian, Zwingli, Ottius, etc. In support of his anti-Anabaptist prejudice he adds "Blicke auf das Leben einiger Widertäufer," and in conclusion he reprints the "Abschid der Stette Zürich, Bern und St. Gallen von wegen der Wiedergetauften," of 7 September 1527.
