Frensburg (Elsassfrensburg), about 12 miles (20 km) from Wissembourg in Alsace, was formerly the seat of a Mennonite congregation of Swiss descent. About 1760 Christian Naftziger was the elder, and Peter Güngerich and Michael Schantz preachers. After the death of Naftziger (about 1782) Michael Schantz became elder, who was still serving in 1802.
