Geerloff Gerritsz (Hemelinck), a martyr, was hanged at [[Utrecht (Utrecht, Netherlands)|Utrecht]] in the [[Netherlands|Netherlands]] on 20 April 1570, for the simple reason that he had been present at a religious meeting held at night at [[Bunschoten (Utrecht, Netherlands)|Bunschoten]], province of [[Utrecht (Netherlands)|Utrecht]], his home, and had listened to a sermon by a Mennonite preacher.
