Grain of Wheat Church Community (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada)
Winnipeg, MB. Located in downtown Winnipeg. In 2000 "servant-leaders" included Jarem Sawatsky, Elizabeth Sawatsky, Larry Campbell and Jane Gateson. In 2000 the fellowship had 48 members. While not a Mennonite congregation, it is rooted in the Anabaptist tradition, supports Mennonite Central Committee and is related to Reba Place Fellowship (Evanston, Illinois, USA) which is a member of the Mennonite Church. Many members and leaders were educated in Mennonite institutions and have family roots in the Mennonite faith.
The congregation began services in 1981. The congregation originated through efforts of individuals. The congregation meets in the basement of a local church building. It regards itself as an ecumenical congregation influenced by a variety of Christian streams of thought.
Grain of Wheat published Seeds magazine until 1985.
