Hans (Jan) Vermandele (in Martyrs' Mirror called Hans van Mandel), an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake at Antwerp, Belgium, 19 March 1569. He had been arrested with a number of other members of the Antwerp congregation, when a meeting was held in the house of Jan Poote. He was 25 years of age and a weaver, originally from Kortrijk in Flanders. He lived at Dambrugge near Antwerp and was married to Betken, whom he had married in a meeting of the congregation outside of the city. He had been baptized upon his faith in Antwerp in 1566. Even while cruelly tortured he refused to name the person who had baptized him and the place where the baptism took place.
