Among his publications were Absolon of de gestrafte Heerschzucht (Haarlem, n.d.); and Bijbelpoezy in Alleenspraken, Tafereelen, Uitbrei-dingen en Zedelessen (Amsterdam, 1729).

Heerns's daughter Femina (1724-1781), married to the Mennonite merchant Gerard Hugaart of Haarlem, also published a number of poems. Heems died in 1756.
