Dirk Goykes Hinlopen, a dealer in wood at [[Workum (Friesland, Netherlands)|Workum]] in the Dutch province of [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]] and preacher of the [[Waterlanders|Waterlander]] congregation, studied under the celebrated [[Galenus Abrahamsz de Haan (1622-1706)|Galenus Abrahamsz de Haan]] in 1698-1699, delivered his first sermon on 14 January 1700, and remained in this office until his death in 1752. He was generous of heart and peaceable.
