Vincent de Hondt was an elder of the Mennonite Church at Haarlem, Netherlands, who in 1620 by his implacable attitude caused a division among the Old Flemish or "Huiskoopers," who had already been weakened by the secession of the "Bankroetiers." Vincent de Hondt put out of the church a young man who had illicit relations with his fiancee. His co-preacher Lucas Filips did not agree with de Hondt's act. This led to a division. Part of the congregation remained loyal to de Hondt. Attempts at reconciliation made by Claes Claesz, a true apostle of peace, failed (Propositie of Voorstelling dat de eens geloofsgezinde Christenen niet behooren gescheiden te blijven, Haarlem, 1634). Equally unsuccessful was a letter, Vredesbode . . . , sent by numerous delegates from the churches assembled at Utrecht in 1633 and presented with the Propositie. Among Vincent de Hondt's writings were Korte Bekentenisse des Geloofs (1626, n.p.; 2d ed. Haarlem, 1630) and Een korte en grondige Verklaring van de vrede Godts (Haarlem, 1732). A treatise by de Hondt on the Trinity, the office of the ministers, baptism, the church, the Lord's Supper, marriage, the magistracy, shunning, etc., is found in Christelyck Huys-boeck (1643) by J. de Buyser.

Vincent de Hondt's group at Haarlem, at first usually called "Vincent de Hondt-volk," merged with the Danzig Old Flemish about 1760.
