Hoosen (Hoozen, Hoose, Hose) is a Mennonite family, which according to tradition emigrated in the 17th century from Switzerland to Giethoorn, in the Dutch province of Overijssel. Some of the members served as preachers and elders of the Danzig Old Flemish congregation of Giethoorn ("Noord"), i.e., Jan Hoosen 1744-1769 (?), and both his sons, Gerrit Jans Hoosen 1796 (?)-1812 (?) and Pieter Jans Hoosen about 1802-?. Jan Jansz. Hoosen of Giethoorn, who is not the same person as the foregoing elder of Giethoorn, but likely also a son, was elder of the Swiss emigrant congregation at Kampen about 1805-1822. He was a shoemaker, who was born 1758 at Giethoorn and died there 1834.
