Hughestown, a Mennonite Brethren mission station in India, located in the northeastern suburbs of Hyderabad city in Madhya Pradesh (formerly Central Provinces), was purchased by J. H. Pankratz in 1913, and at that time included three compounds—one with a hall for church and school, and the other two with bungalows for missionaries and living quarters for workers. Since the mission at one time intended to discontinue the station and transfer to another locality, it sold two of these compounds and retained the one with the larger bungalow. In 1927 it was, however, decided to retain Hughestown as a center for work in the field southeast of Hyderabad.

Missionaries who worked here a longer period of time are J. H. and Maria Pankratz, Anna Suderman Bergthold, Katharina L. Schellenberg, Anna Hanneman, and Elizabeth D. Janzen. The station was without resident missionaries much of the time and was supervised by missionaries of other stations. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lohrenz of Shamshabad long had charge of the work.

Activities have included regular church services on the station and evangelism in the city of Hyderabad and its environs as well as in the villages. The station field had an area of 1,200 square miles and a population of 200,000 in 1954. Of the Christian community, which numbered one thousand communicant members at that time, about four hundred lived in the city and six hundred in the villages. A primary school was conducted since the beginning of the station. A new church was built in 1952.
