Jacob Pouwels (16th century)

Jacob Pouwels, an otherwise unknown Dutch Anabaptist, who was the leader of the Anabaptist group in Groningen in the spring of 1534, when the elder (bishop) of Amsterdam, Jacob van Campen, visited that city. The statement that the group of Anabap­tists in the city of Groningen then numbered 1,100 must be an exaggeration.
