Johannestal Mennonite Brethren Church, now extinct, located 15 miles (25 km) from McClusky, North Dakota, was founded in 1904. In 1906 a meetinghouse was built. Early ministers and leaders were George Sattler and Ludwig Seibel. The latter was the leader of the Mennonite Brethren Church at McClusky. In 1924 the membership was 24. Its members joined other Mennonite Brethren churches in the vicinity and in California.
