Kaplaneihof (Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany)
Kaplaneihof was a small settlement of six farms, two miles southeast of Bergzabern, Palatinate, Germany, and one-half mile east of Deutschhof. It has been occupied by Mennonites since 1787. In that year Elector Karl Theodor sold to the Mennonite Joseph Schowalter of Klein-Bundenbach near Zweibrücken (originally from Geisberg) the entire estate, which was then divided into six separate small farms of about 25 acres each. Additional families which came included Christian Lehmann of Niederrodern a son-in-law of Schowalter, and two other Schowalter families, originally from Geisberg and Schafbusch. In 1957 the six families on the Kaplaneihof included two Hege and four Schowalter families. Otto Schowalter, pastor of the Hamburg Mennonite Church, and Paul Schowalter, pastor of Weierhof, stem from Kaplaneihof. The Kaplaneihof families are members of the Deutschhof congregation and attend the services there.
