Freule Christiane de Bosch Kemper was born at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], Holland in 1840, and died 12 May 1924 at [[Amersfoort (Utrecht, Netherlands)|Amersfoort]], daughter of Professor Jeronimo de Bosch Kemper and Maria Hulshoff. She was baptized in 1861 by [[Hoop Scheffer, Jacob Gijsbert de (1819-1894)|J. G. de Hoop Scheffer]], then Mennonite pastor at Amsterdam. Soon after, in 1867, she broke with her idle, luxurious life to devote herself to the education of young women.
