Klaas Tigler-Leen was a foundation for the financial support to be given to young people, descendants of Klaas Tigler, who might wish to study at a Dutch university. All branches of study could be chosen, except training for the Roman Catholic priesthood and military science. The founder was Klaas Tigler (1724-1811) of Leeuwarden, a preacher of the Mennonite congregation in his home town. From 1832-1920 the Leeuwarden Mennonite church board administered the foundation. Among about 50 beneficiaries to 1955 there were eight Mennonite theological students, whose educational expenses were paid by the fund.
