Johann Kliewer was one of the last elders of the Deutsch-Wymysle Mennonite Church (Poland). He was ordained elder in 1885 and joined the local newly established Mennonite Brethren congregation on 17 July 1893, where he continued his service as a minister. On 4 November 1895 he was ordained co-elder of the congregation. The Deutsch-Wymysle Mennonite Church chose Johann Schmidt as his successor. He also joined the Mennonite Brethren.
