L’Église Missionnaire de Montréal was accepted as a church plant of the [[Quebec Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches|Quebec Mennonite Brethren Conference]] (AEFMQ) in April 2012. The congregation was begun by Jean-Calvin Kitata and was quite multiethnic with a Congolese core. Later it was led by intern pastor "Mama" Thérèse Nandoh and met near a downtown YMCA, ministering to new immigrants from Africa. When an attempt to buy a former Salvation Army building failed the group began to decline. From 2012 it was led by intern pastor "Mama" Thérèse Nandoh and met in various downtown locations, ministering to new immigrants from Africa.
