<em>Een Liedeken van ses vrouwen binnen Antwerpen gedoot . . . in't jaer 1559 </em>is a hymn of 25 stanzas beginning with the words "Babels Raets mandementen worden aldus volbracht" (the orders of Babel [the Catholic Church] are thus executed); it celebrates the death of six [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] women, who died for their faith at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]] in [[Belgium|Belgium]]. In this raid the leaders of the congregation and most members escaped, only the six women being taken to prison. They were tried and tortured, but "the Lord well preserved their mouths" and they did not reveal the names of their fellow members. After much tribulation and suffering they were put to death; they died valiantly for their Lord.
