Lugt was a Dutch Mennonite family, found from about 1600 at [[Aalsmeer (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Aalsmeer]], province of [[North Holland (Netherlands)|North Holland]]. From about 1700 they were shipbuilders and tar brokers and later in insurance at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]]; by the 1950s some of them were lawyers or bankers. Lugt was a Dutch Mennonite family, found from about 1600 at Aalsmeer, province of North Holland. From about 1700 they were shipbuilders and tar brokers and later in insurance at Amsterdam; by the 1950s some of them were lawyers or bankers. This family has produced two preachers: Pieter Evert Lugt (b. 10 January 1841, at Amsterdam, d. 1 June 1908, at Amersfoort, married to Welmoet Tideman), who served at Noordeinde van Graft 1865-1871, Noordbroek and Nieuw-Scheemda 1871-1874, IJlst 1874-1878, and Winterswijk 1878-1908; and Paul J.
