Magdaleentken (Magdalena) Andriesd, an Anabaptist martyr, was taken prisoner with five sisters of the faith by the margrave of Antwerp, Belgium, on 20 May 1559, condemned to death with two of them on 18 June, and after a courageous confession of their faith they were drowned in the same night in the Steen prison at Antwerp. The name of Magdalena, who was a native of Maastricht, Dutch province of Limburg, is found in two hymns: "Aenhoort Godt, hemelsche Vader" (Hear, O God, heavenly Father), of the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren (No. 16) and "Babels Raets Mandamenten" (The mandates of the Council of Babel are thus executed), which hymn is found both in the Nieu Liedenboeck of 1562 and in Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren of 1563.
