When war came to Sri Lanka, many people fled. Germany was the first country to accept Tamil refugees. A Christian revival took place there in the 1980s among the Tamil people who were generally of Hindu background. Later some of these new Christians immigrated to [[Canada|Canada]] and began to form churches.
