During the period of inflation of German currency, 1922-1923, an association was formed in Munich, South Germany, with the name Mennonitische Studentenhilfe (Mennonite Student Aid), whose objective was to lighten the economic need of Mennonite students and to offer them a home in which they would have inexpensive living and opportunity for Christian association. In January 1922 the association secured a four-story house between the Institute of Technology and the University of Munich, in which Mennonites and non-Mennonites could live.
