Millen (Limburg, Netherlands)

Millen, a village now in the Dutch province of Limburg, in the 16th century belonging to the duchy of Jülich, Germany. In the 1530s it was a center of Anabaptist activity. Later there were also Mennonites here. Theunis van Hastenrath baptized in Millen about 1550. About 1550 one group of seven Anabaptists and then one of eleven were beheaded in the territories of Millen and neighboring Born. In 1591 the Concept of Cologne was signed by Diderich Verwer for the Millen congregations ("vanwegen aller Gemeynten in 't Lant van Millen").
