The Missouri Groffdale Old Order Mennonite settlement was started in 1970 in Morgan and Moniteau counties. The first five families to settle here were: John S. Nolt, Amos Z. Zimmerman, Harry W. Leinbach, Adin H. Kilmer, and Raymond W. Shirk. Although this settlement has been referred to as the Missouri settlement, all of these families came from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. For the sake of clarity, it will be referred in this article as the Morgan-Moniteau settlement.

This settlement increased rapidly in population from its first year. As of 1 January 2011 there were approximately 245 households within the entire Morgan-Moniteau settlement.

Hopewell Old Order Mennonite Meetinghouse

The Hopewell meetinghouse is a wood frame structure built in 1971 along Gracy Creek Road. It was the first meetinghouse built in Morgan-Moniteau settlement and was rather small. It was enlarged twice, in 1973 and again in 1991. In 2012 it was 48 feet by 70 feet. As of 1 January 2011 the following ministry team served the congregation--The presiding bishop was Raymond W. Shirk (ordained minister, 1972; bishop, 1976. The minister was Harry W. Leinbach (ordained 1995), and the deacon was Reuben L. Zimmerman (ordained 1973).

Clearview Old Order Mennonite Meetinghouse

The Clearview meetinghouse is a wood frame meetinghouse erected along Highway E in 1974. It is located at the north end of this settlement and measured 48 feet by 68 feet. As of 1 January 2011 the following ministry team served the congregation. The presiding bishop was Daniel K. Newswanger (ordained minister, 1994; bishop, 2004). The ministers were Jason L. Nolt (ordained 2006) and Michael D. Martin (ordained 2008). The deacon was Marvin S. Hoover (ordained 1981).

Excelsior Old Order Mennonite Meetinghouse

The Excelsior meetinghouse is a wood frame meetinghouse erected along Shady Brook Drive. It was built to relieve overcrowding in the Hopewell and Clearview meetinghouses. It is situated half-way between Hopewell and Clearview and its size is 56 feet by 70 feet. As of 1 January 2011 the following ministry team served the congregation--The presiding bishop was Raymond W. Shirk. The ministers were Ivan M. Horst (ordained 1997) and Leonard B. Martin (2005). The deacon was Paul S. Shirk (ordained 1998).

Hillcrest Old Order Mennonite Meetinghouse

The Hillcreast meetinghouse is a wood frame building along Mullins Road. It was built in 2006 to accommodate the population migration that was progressing at the northern end of the settlement. When completed, it measured 48 feet by 70 feet. As of 1 January 2011 the following ministry team served the congregation--The presiding bishop was Daniel K. Newswanger. The minister was Raymond M. Stauffer (ordained 1998) and the deacon was James M. Martin (ordained 2010).
